3 life lessons learned from an OLD photo...

A love from my college days had been going through some stuff in his basement and found this picture of me from 30 years ago!

I received a surprise message a couple days ago...

A love from my college days had been going through some stuff in his basement and found this picture of me from 30 years ago!

My immediate reaction was -wow-look how young I was-no grey hairs-no lines or age spots.

I joked with him that I kinda remembered her.

Upon further conversation to figure out the timing and circumstances of the photo, he lovingly called out my smile.

My smile.  Hmmm, my smile hasn’t changed.

The lipstick shade and laugh lines are new, but my smile is the same.

Why was I so quick to see all the youth that I missed vs. the life in my face now?

I compared this current picture and took a moment to shift my perspective:

3 Life Lessons from an old photo:

1. The lines on my face are from laughter and life, from stress and sorrow, love and loss and I carry them proudly for they know my stories.

2. The silver strands in my hair also know my stories, they appear and stand at attention when stress peaks.  They dare to be pulled and I choose to keep them as badges of courage.

3. My eyes are the windows to my heart and I can see a depth now that I didn’t have then.  Birthing and raising children was a level of  love I couldn’t have imagined 30 years ago.

In my 20’s I thought I knew so much about life

I loved deeply and lived wildly

In my 50’s there is so much I have yet to learn and experience

I love deeply and am resilientAF

And my smile is exactly the same.
